This tall 1.8 m tall yellow sunflower has a double row of bright yellow petals surrounding a very dark centre which is highly sought after by florists. The stems are strong and the flowers tend to remain in good condition in the vase for a considerable time. It is ready to pick within 66 days from planting. Sunshine is easy to grow from seed and germinates in 5-7 days from the planting of the seed

Direct sow seeds into the garden in their final position. Scatter a few seeds in clumps about 20-50 cm apart and thin to one or two seedlings at a later stage. The plants are hardy when established and require little effort. If you have wild birds, you may need to protect the sunflower heads from bird theft.
