It is an easy vegetable to grow in the home garden and is high in vitamins. Suited to all climates, although is best to avoid growing in very hot and frost times. Soak the silverbeet seeds a few hours before sowing, as they only absorb water slowly. Sow thinly in drills 30-40cm apart and 12mm deep. Cover the seeds with vermiculite. Cover lightly with mulch (ie. shredded sugar cane mulch) Keep damp with light watering until seeldings emerge. (approx. 2 weeks). Have a year round supply with 2 or 3 sowings between Spring & Autumn. Sow 12mm deep in drills 30-40cm apart firm, down the soil and and cover lightly with mulch. Any loose mulch will do. Keep the seeds damp with light watering until the seedlings emerge.
