This is a beautiful long bright red variety with a white tip. It has a mild flavour which is highly regarded. It has been the main variety grown in Australia for generations. It is perfect for growing in sandy or soft loamy soil. It is an old Italian Heirloom which produces 15cm long roots that are around 6-7cm thick and tapering.The lovely white flesh is very firm and crunchy with a delicious mild flavour. The seed should be planted 0.5-1mm deep as close as 2cm apart and in rows 10-15cm apart. They need good watering to prevent pithiness in hot conditions. Radishes can be planted all year round in any place in Australia. The fact that they emerge so very quickly makes them great for planting with vegetables that are slow to emerge as the radish seedling break up the surface and mark the rows where the other plants will emerge.
