Brassica rapa var pekinensis

This green stemmed variety is prized for its rich
flavour and longer narrower stems. It is very fast to
make size and is commonly picked for baby choy
and used in stir-fry's and often best when steamed.

 In cool areas it can be grown all year round but
does best when sown in late summer for winter
harvest and in autumn for spring harvest. In all other
areas it can be sown all year round. It will mature in
55-60 days from transplant. These Cabbages are
fast maturing when very young and are best planted
outdoors directly in the garden. Plant 0.5-1cm deep,
50-60cm apart in rows 1m apart or when grown
for picking as salad greens. they can be planted
very much closer. Pak Choy likes alkaline soils,
rich nutrient loads, well limed, manured and watered.
